Networking-What
you probably don't know and should...
What
is Networking? One way of having all your computers connected is to have
them Networked. This can be done with as few as two computers, or
hundreds. When you are networked, you have the ability to share all your
files on all your computers, along with the printer and Internet
connection. Because you are sharing your printer, there is no need to
purchase more than one.
Before
technology advanced to the capabilities of Networking, transferring data
was termed "Sneaker Net." This term derived from having to copy
data onto a floppy disk from one computer, where the information was
stored, and walk the disk over to another computer. Once the data was
retrieved on the other computer, you were then able to read or edit the
information (Whew.) As you can see, this method was not only slow and very
inefficient. Networking, on the other hand, is quick, efficient and very
cost effective. Think of the money that you will save (just on sneakers)
in the long run!
